PE and sport premium for primary schools

The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils.

Last year Spring Brook School received £8,130for primary school sport.

This was spent on:

PE Equipment has been audited and updated to allow us to be able to deliver a broader range of sports than we had previously. We have provided travel to and from a wider range of sporting events this year including:

  • Skateboard & Scooter sessions
  • Boccia Championships (which we won!)
  • Cross Country events, with 19 children taking part
  • Gruffalo Trail at Dovestones organised by Oldham School Sport
  • Orienteering
  • Fell walking – organised walks to Pen-y-ghent and Blackstone Edge
  • SEND Athletics Event
  • Road to Rio Baton Relay
  • Attended the World Dodgeball Championships in Manchester

School Sports Development Officer:

  • Family Club Nights – to encourage families to exercise and have fun with their children;
  • CPD for class teachers – during this year, a range of staff have attended CPD on Teaching Tennis in Primary Schools, Orienteering, Forest School familiarisation, KS1 playground games.

Swimming Lessons for KS2 – all our KS2 pupils have a weekly swimming lesson.  2 pupils continue to swim for Oldham Swimming Club outside of school, and all KS2 pupils have been able to take part in school to school water sports competitions.  Y 5 & 6 took part in the Water Polo and Y3 & 4 pupils swam in the Collaborative Gala.  All pupils are progressing through the Swimming Awards with 6 now working towards their Bronze award and Water Safety awards.
